Letter From Olaf
Dear Explorers,
In 1913, the invincible Ernest Shackleton placed a small ad in the London press, seeking staff for an expedition that would undertake an adventure never before completed – the first crossing of Antarctica via the South Pole:
“Men Wanted for Hazardous Journey. Small wages, bitter cold, long months of complete darkness, constant danger, safe return doubtful. Honour and recognition in case of success.”
Many hardy prospects heeded his call, a valiant team was assembled, and astounding feats of fortitude were achieved. Most importantly, everyone returned safely due to Shackleton’s leadership and care for those in his trust.
We at Explorers’ Corner seek to imbue that same passion for discovery in our own trips. We recognize that yearning for adventure, and that spirit of teamwork, in our clients’ kindred spirits. That’s why we choose the world’s most spectacular nature destinations to explore. That’s what drives us to pursue the remote corners of our amazing planet up close – on foot, with paddle, or any means that immerses us in the sensory wonders of the world around us. We do things differently – away from the throngs of mass tourism.
We’ll challenge you physically, to discover and learn. To wake up early for a morning paddle with sea turtles in the Galapagos is a small sacrifice. Or to help prepare a meal inside a cramped kitchen on a stormy day on the coast of Greenland is as vivid an occasion as encountering the beauty you’re sure to find outdoors, no matter what the weather. The memories you create – and the changes that happen within – are where the value of genuine adventure travel lies. You’ll have stories to share when you return, though they won’t always be the ones you expected to tell. And like Shackleton, we’re here to guide you.
We want you to feel a downpour, smell the sharp wind off the sea, laugh in the spray of a breaching whale, and lend a hand so that all may reach the ultimate successes of learning through discovery. This philosophy has shaped our firm’s motto, which has the same Shackletonian ring to it:
Real Explorers Wanted – True Adventure Guaranteed.
Won’t you join us?
